The Green Path

Small Steps to a “Greener” Store!

We don’t want to pat ourselves on the back, but Earth Fare does want our community to know that we practice what we preach. Below are just a few of the numerous measures Earth Fare takes to protect the environment and a leave a minimal carbon footprint.

- Instead of using disposable plates and silverware, Earth Fare uses actual silverware in our café eat-in area. But, we try to avoid fine china because nobody wants to drink their coffee or Yerba Mate tea from a wine glass.

- In our café and coffee/juice bar, we also use VegWare cups, which are fully compostable and have lids made from cornstarch. They’re not edible though- so please don’t try to eat them!

- We recycle all plastic, glass, paper or packing materials ON SITE whenever possible.

- We donate our leftover food to local charities and food banks.

- Earth Fare collects used plastic bags so shoppers who’ve forgotten their reusable bags can carry home recycled plastic bags.

- Our stores offer recycled toilet paper, paper towels and napkins. And no… recycled toilet paper is not as gross as it sounds!

- All the hand soap, detergents and cleaners used in our stores are Green Seal certified (that’s a good thing, trust us).

- When opening new stores, Earth moves into already existing structures, instead of using up valuable resources to build something new.

- By offering community incentives for our Choose or Reuse program, Earth Fare helped save over 1.5 million bags from landfills last year! And, we celebrated by giving over $250,000 to various nonprofit organizations.
