Vegan/Vegetarian – What’s the difference, really?
Vegan – Someone who consumes no animal or dairy products whatsoever. Can’t eat steak or drink milk.
Vegetarian – Someone who consumes no meat or fish or any other animal product. Can’t eat steak. Can drink milk.
Some say vegetarianism is a diet, and veganism is a lifestyle. Earth Fare remains neutral except to say they’re both personal choices that also happen to be healthy choices – when done right of course! It’s pretty simple – less saturated and trans fats plus less cholesterol-laden foods plus more vegetables and more foods rich in fiber, vitamin C and E and phytochemicals equals better health.
Got a family history of hypertension and diabetes? Vegans and vegetarians are at a lower risk for these life-altering afflictions, too.
Just make sure you get enough protein, iron, zinc, vitamins B12 and D, iodine, omega-3 fatty acids and calcium in your diet. Once again, Earth Fare’s got plenty of supplements to help you out in this department.
